My Literacy Practices
Reading:
Accessing news sources: Each day I have a limited number of newspapers and web based news sources sites that I check on daily basis to keep myself up to date on the local and global news. Here are a few new websites I view daily:
https://au.news.yahoo.com/sa/#page1 http://www.whyallanewsonline.com.au/story/2605897/calling-all-ravens/ http://tenplay.com.au/news/adelaide http://www.news.com.au/national/south-australia I new these to keep myself up to date but I also read other webpages to get different perspectives on various stories that are covered or have a political perspective. I use this approach to gain extra knowledge, to make my own opinion instead of relying on one piece of information, gaining knowledge from other sources.

Watching Television
Facebook to me is a source to keep in touch with family and friends that live far away. I know Facebook is a site that everyone shares their own opinions and views on global, cultural and cross-cultural levels of interest. Through this site is how I stay in touch with fellow friends from school so what different views on global situations and their perspectives aren’t always the same as mine. Its hard to enjoy Facebook at times when people with different opinions start arguing on topics, but everyone has to remember that we have a right to our own views and opinions. If we didn’t have the freedom of speak we would all have the same perspectives.
I rarely watch television due to working full time and studying full time. I find that documentaries on TV are a good resource of information. We I watch types of shows that involve finding out new information about the world or animals, it consciously seek more information and learn more knowledge. I rarely watch television for the entertainment side, as it doesn’t motivate in expressing interest in new information. I find watching the news report motivating to analyse the writer’s views and opinions.

Early Learning Years Framework

We use the Early Learning Years Framework (ELYF) as we work with children from 8years and below. It requires me to do 2 learning stories on each child each week. Have the knowledge of the ELYF helps to understand what areas literacy that have achieved during their early years. Literacy is a tool that all students learn to use and understand. Within these learning stories we discuss what outcomes the children have achieved, within these outcomes are different literacy milestones.
