Since planning and creating this profile it has given me a deeper understand of the term ‘literacy’. I have found that literacy goes much further than just having the ability to read and write these skills are very important also. Literacy prepares students for the outside world and communicating between people, thoughts and ideas. That literacy is change through; education, personality, yourself, relationships with others (Youtube clip 2 page)

I have a deeper knowledge and understand of what is needed for students to get the most out of literacy and how to look for literacy in early years through ELYF Early Learning Years Framework. As educator I need to understand how important teaching literacy to provide students with opportunities out in the world. I have a greater understand of the Australian Curriculum and the Early Learning Years Framework.
“Education plays a critical role in shaping the lives of young Australians and contributing to a democratic, equitable and just society that is prosperous, cohesive and culturally diverse”. The Australian Curriculum (2016) There is research supporting that children are getting the benefits out of Early Learning and being more involved in their community (EYLF 2009, pg.5)
Knowledge:
Now at the end of this assignment I can truly say that I have learnt about literacy in much more depth and the didn’t ways that it is used to support students in their learning environments. There isn’t just one form of literacy it comes in many that suits the needs of students. Literacy will never be just one thing it is an on going process that will change throughout time.
Skill:
I now know what to look for within students to find their literacy skills and explain the use of them and the different forms. Relating it back to daily live activities and how it will relate to their future. Myself as a future teacher I need to have an open mind with students suggestions and their different ways of understanding terms on different information.
Needs:
Everyone in society has learnt the basis literacy skills of reading and writing that help them to live in the society we are now in. Each teacher needs to understand the importance of teaching these skills.
